Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 3 - 5
- Chapters will be assigned between classes for pacing.
-We will talk about developing characters, predict what could be happening in upcoming parts of the story, and talk about discussing questions after reading together
-Learners should be able to read at a 4th-grade level and my personal teaching style is to make the class as engaging and fun as possible!
-Feel free to join this book club no matter where we are at in the section! I can you know how to get caught up or what date would be best to start. I would love to have you!

Our first novel: Holes by Lois Sachar we will "dig" for 4 weeks
Week 1: We will create Camp Green Lake Nick Names and continue book discussion while reading
- Play a game reviewing what we have read
Week 2: We will work on a Camp Green Lake Handbook with a set of rules and guidelines we would make if we were the Warden and continue reading Part 2 of Novel
Week 3: We Will do a little bit of research on outlaws in the Wild West and tie it to the book
Week 4: Wrap it up by discussing our favorite parts of the story

Second Novel: Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
Week 1: We will make predictions on Padlet on what we think the story is going to be about
Week 2: We will create our very own chocolate creation and for homework, we will make a Flipgrid having a commercial about it.
Week 3: Review the highlights of the commercials and discuss the different character traits of the new characters we are being introduced to.
Week 4: Finish up the book and play a review game on Kahoot

Third Novel: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry for 4 weeks

Week 1: Background knowledge: Ask students if they understand the setting of this story and what was going on during this time period. Compare characters to one another.
Week 2: How have you Ever Pretended to Be Someone Else? Ask this question on Padlet along with where would you hide.
Week 3: Do a Peardeck after reading to discuss the Symbolism of certain items in the book
Week 4: Finish the book and talk about what the central message was

Some of the activities I hope to have us do together are discussion boards, games, Flipgrids, and Peardecks.
If we need to extend some weeks because some activities end up taking too long or we don't get as far in anticipated chapters we can always adjust!
