In this tutoring session, the learner will receive one-on-one individualized instruction based on his or her needs for literacy and math in kindergarten-1st grade. Whether your child is just approaching writing letters and numbers or is ready for reading comprehension strategies and creating sentences, I will provide instruction and support so that your child feels successful in meeting his or her writing goals. Through the use of modeling, whiteboard, books, and more, we will build on skills depending on your child's needs. I strive to teach skills in a way that can be fun and educational. I am very patient and strive to encourage my students so they feel comfortable and confident as we work together to reach the student’s goals. In this course, we can review content previously learned to keep the student on track for the next school year, work on skills not mastered from the previous grade, introduce new-concepts so your child isn't "stuck" when he or she is ready to move on to master new skills, and even work on homework if help is needed. Whether your child is starting kindergarten, first grade or just needs review in these skills, please join me for some writing fun!

I encourage students to shine in our classroom by taking pride in their growth in learning! I am a patient and encouraging teacher and will always work hard to make students feel comfortable in their learning. I am available and will check the classroom and parent private messages daily for any questions and help you may need. I will provide feedback throughout the course to let you know how your student is doing in their progress as a writer. I often call them "glows and grows" meaning I will always tell you something your child is doing well at and if there is something he or she can work on in regard to strategies we are practicing in class. Day 1: Introduction, get to know student's interests and work to get them comfortable in session, assess student's ability
Day 2: Brief discussion for ice breaker... According to student's needs, we will set and discuss our first 3 goals. Activity and skills taught will depend on student's needs
Day 3: Brief discussion for ice breaker... Review goals set, begin to work on goal 1
Day 4: Brief discussion for ice breaker... Review goals set, continue to work on goal 1, if goal 1 is met, move to goal 2

***Connecting students' interests to their writing can give them the boost to want to write. Discussion goals together is an important step to get the student taking part in their own learning. We will move at the pace of the student. Therefore, schedules may change at times if needed.
