2-4 horas por semana. Students are expected to practice 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, in order to develop the skills taught in the class. The students will play for the teacher and each other during each class. Class Notes and Exercises are provided by the teacher for each session. Written exercises will be linked to accompaniment tracks available on Youtube.com.Evaluación
Learner progress is assessed through attentive participation and evidence of home practice through increased skill development. Students will either be recommended to enroll in the next course, repeat the course, or sign up for private lessons.Experiencia de clase
This class focuses specifically on mastering the basic articulations of playing a brass instrument. Articulation Lessons for the four sessions are: 1) The Physiology of Articulation: How to Start the Note and Stop the Note 2) Up and Down: Articulation in for Each Harmonic 3) Keeping it Consistent: Articulation and Rhythm 4) Let's Go Faster: Velocity Training Instruction Method: Students will learn through an interactive call and response discussion. The same will be true of playing the instrument during the class. Sometimes the entire class will play and other times the teacher will call on individual students to play for the class. Time Structure: class sessions are 50 minutes each, 1) review; 2) new concepts; 3) practical application on the instrument; 4) lessons wrap-up; 5) assignment for the next session.

1) learn to aurally identify the difference between a clean versus undefined articulation
2) understand the internal physiology of how to produce a clean articulation while maintaining a transparent tone
3) practice the skill of a clean articulation to both the beginning and the ending of the note
4) learn the techniques to transition through the different overtones of the instrument with both "tonguing" and "slurring"
5) learn techniques to increase velocity without losing clarity of articulation
