Are you ready to have a great time with the newest Treehouse Series book? Come join in this class to enjoy this outrageous story by Australian author, Andy Griffiths! We will jump right into the book during our first class as we read together the first 2 chapters. During our first class, we'll have time to share out about your child's favorite part and participate in reading responses which help develop and strengthen oral language and social skills. Then the rest of the course will be structured in the same way. We will work on strengthening reading comprehension skills, character development, and making connections and predictions. I will help facilitate the discussion by asking guided questions and involving students as they share out and discuss their thoughts and feelings about the book. I love to have the students interactive with each other through activities and games. Depending on class size, we may use breakout rooms as well to help maximize our student interaction and opportunities for engagement. And of course, a book club isn't complete without some hands on activities which will include games, writing challenges, art and other activities all connected to our book! Students will need to read 3 or 4 chapters in between classes. Each meeting we will discuss the chapters read and have time to participate in activities related to the book so it will be important your child has read the assigned reading prior to the start of the next class. Please note, if the book is not at your child's independent reading level, having the book read to them is definitely acceptable! Your child does not have to have read the other Treehouse Story books to join in this class. Additionally I will also post a class challenge after the end of each challenge to allow students to spend time outside of class connecting with the book. The class challenges are optional and are provided in case you want or need a way to further your child's reading and writing skills. Examples of challenges may be building something as related to the plot, drawing parts of the story, or writing activities centered around the story. If you do not see a class section that meets your needs, please let me know and I will try my best to schedule one based around your needs. Currently, this course is set to meet 1 time a week for 4 weeks. However, if you prefer, I can meet 2 times a week for two weeks. Please let me know if that is of interest. If you have a learning pod or homeschool group that would like a private class, I am also happy to set up a private class to meet your group's needs. Schedule: Class 1 - Teacher will read Chapter 1 and 2 and begin book club. Class 2 - Discuss Chapter 3, 4, and 5 Class 3 - Discuss Chapter 6, 7, and 8, and 9 Class 4 - Discuss Chapter 10, 11, 12, 13 If you don't see a section that works for you, please let me know. I try to work with families to create new sections that work with both of our schedules. I am also have to offer the class 1 time a week if you prefer that for your child. If you have a homeschool group or would like your child to take with friends, ask me about a private book club at no additional cost! Book review, from Amazon New York Times-bestselling team Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton invite readers to come hang out with them in their 143-Story Treehouse—the eleventh book in the illustrated chapter book series filled with Andy and Terry's signature slapstick humor! Andy and Terry live in a 143-story treehouse. (It used to be a 130-story treehouse, but they built another 13 stories.) It has a baked bean geyser that erupts on the hour every hour, a wrecking ball, a fish milkshake shack, a word-o-matic (it knows every word in the whole world!), a toffee apple orchard guarded by a kind-hearted scarecrow, and a camping ground. Andy's been a bit stressed out lately, so Terry decides the perfect way to relax would be to head up to their new camping ground level for a much-needed vacation. But it turns out to be not quite as relaxing as planned. Terry forgets to pack the tent and the food, their attempt at fishing ends in disaster, the spooky campfire stories are a little too spooky and then, to make matters worse, all of Andy’s fellow campers start mysteriously disappearing. Can Andy brave the dark, dark woods and rescue them in time to finish writing their next book?
