Class Breakdown:
This class will be broken down into three sections. Each section will use instruction, activities, and music created specifically for young dancers. That means, you can rest assured that every lesson is designed with developmental goals for this age group in mind.
• Warm Up - Each class will begin with a warm up designed to engage dancers with strength and flexibility. This section will focus on building motor skills and introducing ballet techniques such as straight legs and pointed toes. Dancers will only need enough space to stretch and move around for this section.
• Ballet at the Barre - Next, dancers will practice foundational ballet steps at the barre. This section will use guided instruction to introduce key ballet terms and movements such as plié, relevé, and sauté. Dancers should bring a chair or a similar stable object to hold as a barre; however if this equipment is not available, dancers can easily modify this activity to dance without a barre.
• Center Floor - Finally, Dancers will move to the floor to dance and play with fun games and activities. In this section, dancers will be encouraged to use their imaginations and follow their curiosities to engage with movement. Floorwork for this class will incorporate themes such as ballet technique, improvisation, creative movement, and expression. Each class will end with a freestyle dance party and a round of applause for the dancers.

Learner Engagement:
Time for sharing will be provided at the beginning of each class, and again at the end, if time allows. Dancers will be able to speak freely throughout each class; however, extraneous chatter will not be encouraged. Engagement is not required for this class. All learners are encouraged to participate at whatever level they are able and most comfortable. Video and audio will not be required; however, all students will be required to check in via video at least once per Outschool safety policy. The mute feature will be used if necessary to provide the best sound quality for all students. Dancers should be familiar with using this feature or have an adult nearby to help. For more information on class expectations, please review Miss Zoë's classroom policies, located on her teacher profile, or send her a message.

2023 Class Syllabus:
Class themes and focus skills are created to highlight developmental goals for this age group. These special skills will be incorporated in games and activities throughout each class. Students are not required to complete theme studies in any order, and can join the class at any time. Specific class activities will be determined based on class skill level, abilities, and interests. For more information, please contact Miss Zoë directly.
