_______________________________________ Happy September! I'm feeling excited to start another school year which means you get a limited time offer to try one free class; but this month only! Just use code WOOLVBKTOSCHOOL25 when you enrol in any of my classes (except 1-Day) during September. _______________________________________ Learn to act fun characters and create zany scenes in far away fantasy worlds while improvising. You can be who you want to be and create whatever kind of scene you want to... But how??? By jumping in and enrolling in this fast pace, energetic and hilariously ridiculous (but educational!) class. With improv you can make it as serious or as silly as you want and this introductory course is the perfect place to start. You will learn the core basics of improvising and get a feel for what my ongoing Theatre For Kids improv class is like. I have learners who have been taking that class for three years and counting! Classes begin with a warm up (so make sure you have room to move) followed by a group game. Then we move onto specific improv skills with exercises aimed at some of the basic concepts: listening, offering, accepting, advancing, characters & unusual settings etc. We finish every class by letting the students choose whether they would rather break into teams and compete in hilariously fun skit challenges (theatre sports), or continuing with the group game (sometimes the younger groups want to make sure everyone gets a turn). Week 1: Introduction - ridiculous exercises around performance, acting, trust, collaborating and associating ideas Week 2: Making and Accepting Offers - building scenes by really listening to your partner and exploring each other's ideas Week 3: Characterization - Voice, body & Mind: The character Party and the World's Worst!! Week 4: Location and stagecraft - Creating invisible worlds and making the invisible visible Week 5: Scene Structure and Storytelling - turning our little scenes into Big Stories What often happens with this class is learners want to continue. My two ongoing classes to look for that continue from this introduction are: Theatre For Kids Acting & Improv (9-12) Sketch Comedy Live! (12-18) I look forward to meeting your learner!
Metas de aprendizaje
-Students will learn to focus their energy.
-They will experience the importance of respect and teamwork.
-They will build confidence and gain tools to deal with nervousness or shyness.
Improv isn't fun because you are on stage being silly; improv is fun because when you come up with a new and spontaneous idea in the moment, and it works, you feel the instant thrill of success. You get a laugh from the group and develop new and deeper connection with your scene partner. My goal for every student is to have a chance to experience that moment.

Orientación para padres
I make best efforts to avoid politics and religion but sooner or later a student will cast him or herself in the role of a religious leader or famous politician, or set a scene in a church or the Whitehouse etc. This is drama and make-believe and it is important to the process to let their imaginations open up. That being said, while I maintain a safe zone of inclusivity for all faiths and ideologies, hate speech, prejudice or cyber bullying will not be allowed and parents will be notified.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have been a professional actor in film and television for many years. I've travelled to exotic shoot locations, won awards, was a lead on five different television series. But none of that is what makes me a good drama teacher. So what do I think makes me a good drama teacher? Marvel. I never cease to marvel how much the techniques I learned in theatre school as a kid still help me to this day. I never cease to marvel when a child "gets it" and comes up with a new idea and is overcome with joy and pride simultaneously. This is the "magic" you hear us talk about all the time in theatre. And I am ever humbled by it. As our children spend more time in front of the computer, I strive to give them a chance to experience that magic.
