Experiencia de clase

I am highly energetic, and I also focus on the social-emotional component of my students. You will see that my goal is for students to feel comfortable expressing themselves in front of others. The class will start out with a get to know each other activity. Since acting is very expressive, my lesson plans are very clear of my intention to create a positive, open and trusting community between the learners and I. Each class will have an improv warm up activity. Then, the students will act in short skits in each class. Portraying different emotions will be discussed and practiced. Students will also get a chance to create their own skits. The term 'actor's choice' will be discussed and explored. This is an introduction class that will give learners a 'taste' of what it is like to act and do improv activities.

Here is the breakdown of the weekly focus. All sessions will include the physical behaviors and choices of movement that may go along with this emotion.

Week of April 23: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of anger (and the variations of this, such as frustration)
Week of April 30: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of happy (and the variations of this, such as excited, enthusiastic)
Week of May 7: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of sadness
Week of May 14: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of happiness (and the variations of this, such as excited, enthusiastic)
Week of May 21: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of sadness
Week of May 28: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of fear (worry)
Week of June 4: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of anger (and the variations of this, such as frustration)
Week of June 11: Additional Focus: Displaying the emotion of happy (and the variations of this, such as excited, enthusiastic)
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will build their self-confidence by learning to think on the spot without being judged. This is a key component of developing the skill of acting. They will also develop the skill of breaking down the layers of different feelings. Many people struggle with naming how they feel. This class will also improve their ability to connect with themselves as well as others. This class will also increase their ability to write more detail in written stories because we will focus on character development as well as sequential order of details in a story. Story elements will also be analyzed and discussed in the script.
