The animals have gathered on the beach in Australia for their traditional Christmas barbecue. They plan to spend the day playing on the beach and exchanging gifts, followed by a barbecue feast of "shrimp on the barbie" (barbecue). Unfortunately, someone has stolen the shrimp and the grill. They can't have their Christmas barbeque without them. Solve the math clues to help the animals get their shrimp and barbeque back so they can have their celebration. *Note: I give hints and help when needed so learners will be successful no matter their skill level. Clue 1- Double digit addition and subtraction (Match the image to its value) Clue 2- Basic fractions (Which part is shaded?) Clue 3- Weight on the scales (Which present is heavier?) Clue 4- Number problems puzzle (Place value) Clue 5- Beach map coordinates (Find the shrimp on the barbie.) If we have time left after solving the clues, I have added two YouTube videos. One of a kookaburra "laughing" and the other of a cockatoo teasing a kookaburra. We can also play a Christmas animal memory game if time allows. It's going to be fun! This class is also listed in my ongoing, weekly Escape Rooms & Adventures Weekly Language Arts, Math & Science Club CEFR A1. I have sections listed at different times throughout the week. If you are interested in a weekly escape class, I suggest you check the Escape Room Club description to find an appropriate day and time. I am very flexible with class scheduling. Hello! My name is Sharon, Teacher Sharon. I am both thankful and excited to have this opportunity to help children from all over the world have fun while learning. I love making learning fun!
I have my Masters of Education (MEd) and over 20 years of experience teaching and learning from children of all ages. I have experience as a nursery school director, a Kid's Club supervisor (twice) and a classroom teacher for Pre-K through high school. I have also taught technology, after-school elementary science classes, cupcake decorating, and brick building.
I am very fortunate to have grown up overseas and have lived all over the world. Some of my many passions include creating fun, educational classes, scuba diving, traveling, science, crafting, my precious dog, cat, fish and snails and of course teaching.
I like to keep class sizes small to help learners engage and participate. If your child is interested in any of my classes that are not currently scheduled, or if a different time or day would work better for you, please feel free to contact me.
Learning in my classroom is engaging, energetic, fun, enjoyable, upbeat and entertaining. "Your child won't want to leave at the end of class and will beg to come back for more." (That's my superhero catch phrase.)
