In this class, we will "visit" the Land of Sweets while listening to Act 2 of Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker. The class won't follow the storyline of The Nutcracker. Instead, children will be led on a "tour" through Land of Sweets by Sugar Plum Fairy. Students will reenact parts of different characters they will encounter in the Land of Sweets and "help" one of them while playing listening games. 
In the second portion of the class, children will make a craft inspired by their musical adventure. 

🎶🤩 My main goal is to familiarize children with famous pieces of classical music and make them realize how much fun classical music is.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE LIST OF MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CRAFT. ALSO, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT FOR THE CRAFT PORTION OF THE CLASS, PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR YOUNGER STUDENTS (AGES 4-5) AND RECOMMENDED FOR OLDER ONES (AGES 6-8) DUE TO USE OF SCISSORS AND OTHER MATERIALS.

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will get familiarized with fragments of Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker. They will practice listening to short segments of classical music and expecting the "clues" from the music. Students will be encouraged to use their imagination and creative thinking while playing musical games and making crafts.

For the craft portion of the class parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8).

•	ONE of the following containers:  yogurt cup, plastic or paper cup, fruit cup, jelly cup, or apple sauce cup.
•	Paper towel or toilet paper tube
•	Tissue paper OR  2 napkins (colorful napkins preferred, but white is fine too!)
•	2 Cotton balls
•	Play dough 
•	Old pencil 
•	Small stickers, colorful scraps of paper
•	Markers
•	Scissors
•	Scotch tape
•	Glue

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente

I am a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia with bachelor degree in Psychology. Also, I studied Early Childhood Education in Israel and Ukraine. 

Before I started teaching on Outschool, I've being teaching creativity classes inspired by classical music and fine art  in afternoon preschool program working with Pre-K through 2 Grade children. Earlier, I was a homeschooling mom for 7 years.

I believe that childhood is the best time to inspire human creativity. By regularly exposing children to works of art and classical music as well as helping kids to process their experiences through games, crafts, and dramatic play, adults have an opportunity to cultivate their creativity.

I LOVE reading books in general and children's literature in particular. I think there are so many great and beautiful kids' books waiting to be discovered. I also love co-creating with the kids: bouncing my ideas of theirs.
