This class will focus on teaching the 5 C's of Fiction. This class will be appropriate for beginners to story writing and for those students who are well-established writers. For beginners, these will help them understand the different elements of story writing and the structure of stories. For established writers, these provide a new way of looking at story writing and give them a new skill set to practice. We will discuss what the 5 C's of Fiction are, how they function within fiction stories (short stories, novellas, and novels), and how they can be used in the different pieces listed above. We will discuss the 5 C's through a PowerPoint lecture. In each class, we will discuss one of the "C's". We will begin with an introductory slide, practice together with an in-class activity, then finish with a discussion over what students have written. Lastly, we will discuss their homework, which will be related to the topic that was covered in that class. A tentative schedule is listed below, but I built in a buffer day in case some topics require more class time or practice time than others. **Please note that is this a writing class. We may spend 15-25 minutes writing, depending on the class and the writing exercises we complete that day.** Breakdown: First Class: Introductions and The first "C": "Character" Second Class: Finish "Character", review homework/discuss secondary characters to pair with the first, and start the second "C": "Conflict". Third Class: Review material from the class before, review homework, and start the third "C": "Crisis". Fourth Class: Review material from the class before, review homework, and work on the fourth and fifth "C's": "Choice" and "Change". Fifth Class: Review homework, Review material from the class before and finish the lecture if necessary, answer any remaining questions about their (students) stories. Sixth Class: Edit Stories, review questions, and cover any additional information necessary. If you are interested in participating in this course but the time doesn't work for you, please let me know what CST time and day you are interested in. I will do my best to accommodate your student's schedule.

Hi everyone! I am Teacher KerrieAnn. Here at Outschool, I enjoy teaching a variety of English classes ranging from skill-specific classes to overall improvement.
I enjoy teaching the skills I learned through my B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University. I studied how to write fiction pieces ranging from poetry and short stories all the way to novels. Given this, I love to teach students how to write their preferred type of fiction while also encouraging them to try something new. I also enjoy teaching students how to develop their writing "toolbox" and grow through the process of storytelling!
Given that I am a writer myself, my classroom environment is founded on mutual respect. Meaning, it is an encouraging, kind, and fun environment to discover and learn within.
I hope that my classes will strike new interests and passions that students can share with others and use to grow their wealth of knowledge.
