This girls group is focused on how to find, build, and maintain friendships in middle school and beyond. We will base much of our work on the book "Friends: Making Them and Keeping Them" by Patti Kelley Criswell. Session 1: Friend finders, conversation starts, and when you feel shy. This class will focus on the beginning of friendships and how to build all kinds of friendships.Lesson 3Managing ConflictTop ten trouble starters, talking it out, and making things right. This class will focus on how to manage friendships when conflict arises.Lesson 4Being a Good FriendListening, building trust, and being there. This class will focus on how to listen to your friends and show up for them as a good friend consistently.

Students may, but do not need, get their own copy of "Friends: Making Them and Keeping Them" by Patti Kelley Criswell. They do not need the book to participate in the course.
This class will focus on hypothetical friendships - the teacher will actively limit the amount of personal information shared by each student, and will ensure that students are only exposed to friendship stories that are hypothetical, platonic, and otherwise age-appropriate.
This course is based on the book "Friends: Making Them and Keeping Them" by Patti Kelley Criswell.
