This class will teach students how to create and write an original fable story. Learners receive ample support to brainstorm and are guided to choose plot examples. There is much discussion to help students say aloud their ideas. Students take turns by freely telling their story for a least 1-2 minutes. As each student speaks, I type their words. Students receive individual support privately via Zoom chat or I compile and screen share. This support is available as a scaffold for students to remember their great ideas, to support sentence structure or grammar. Throughout the course I monitor student ability to gauge the level of writing intervention. In some courses, learners only needed direct instruction to capture quality word choice, others needed memory support, while others benefited from guidance on how to insert adjectives. Overall students excitedly respond to help them draw out their ideas and write. This class includes numerous components to ensure student understanding. Learners receive individualized support through the Zoom chat box feature by dictating their story ideas. Learners receive teacher help for sentence structure, spelling accuracy and edits. Students get to express themselves by speaking, thinking, illustrating ideas and reading aloud their story. Students learn moral lessons and develop a greater sense of confidence by writing for an extended period of time. This is intended to be a fun class and it is intended for learners to do their personal best. Some learners require more time to write and I don't want them to feel rushed during class. Please finish at home and share the following class. We will: 1. Discuss a story problem and solution 2. Identify a moral lesson to be learned 3. Pick a setting 4. Select animal characters 5. Develop a plot by sharing ideas 6. Sequence story events with a beginning, middle and end 7. Receive teacher help to edit 8. Read aloud with expression to recognize punctuation marks

I grew up and went to school in the New York City area but now live in a small farming community in rural Midwest, USA. I enjoy working with and meeting people from both urban and rural settings and readily adjust to meet their learning needs in a culturally responsive way. I also volunteer at a prison and remain adaptable to ensure a supportive and safe learning environment.
I have degrees in the area of Corporate Communication, Education, and Second Language Acquisition. My teaching background is varied as a former 3rd Grade Classroom Teacher at a French immersion school, Orton-Gillingham trained structured reading teacher and as an Adjunct College Instructor.
I believe instructional data is crucial to improve learning outcomes. I constantly assess student comprehension during sessions in a relaxed and encouraging learning environment.
I love traveling and learning more about different cultures. This helps me to support all learners in my classroom. So far, I have visited Estonia, Russia, Kinshasa (Congo), London, Togo, South Korea, Latvia and a few other places. I also studied abroad in France. With each travel experience my respect for people and their culture simply deepens. I look forward to meeting you too!
