In this ongoing course, we will take a tour of the United States of America and create beautiful maps through art. Each class, we will create a complete map of one state. The content does not build, however, it is a complete course. Each class, we will take a tour of one American state. You may print out the attached map, or you can use your own! This class meets twice a week, so two states will be covered each week. Since this is a circular, ongoing class, the schedule will repeat once the rotation is complete, so you can jump in any time and still complete a full course! First, we will observe and discuss landmarks, culture, and the topography of that state. Next, we will draw cities, rivers, and general topography of the region, as well as any special landmarks. After creating the map together, we will engage in a discussion in which each learner will have the option to share their artwork with the group and talk about it. This concluding activity promotes positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills. This class is also available as a 1:1 private tutoring class.
