In this course we will cover the five text structures that can increase the students comprehension of a text. Session 1: Description Session 2: Sequence Session 3: Compare and Contrast Session 4: Problem and Solution Session 5: Cause and Effect Session 6: Review of the Structures The session will be 15 minutes of review and direction instruction of the new skill. The next 15 minutes will be practice and modeling of the skill and the last 15 minutes will be independent instruction and assessment with a wrap up. The course will use direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice with passages, videos, and discussions. Learners will not need previous experience but if they have taken the eight-week course "Making Sense Out of Reading" that I offer will be a benefit either before or after this course.
