Cuentos de las Islas Británicas: La leyenda de Gwenllian, la princesa guerrera galesa

I am a UK teacher who loves to share the rich heritage of the British Isles. This is a one-time class to complement my ongoing class Tales of the British Isles.  

This class tells the story of Gwenllian, a Celtic princess who lived in the 1200s.  She fought courageously against the Norman invaders who were attacking from England, eventually leading an army into battle. Even after her death, her name was used as a rallying cry by the Welsh armies.

I will introduce the subject, using a time line  to show when the story took place, and I will give some context, explaining what life was like in those days. Students are very welcome to contribute and ask questions (it is all right if a student only wants to listen). I use slides, pictures and photos to illustrate the characters, landscape and features of the story.  Perhaps some of the leaners have Welsh connections they would like to share too.

At the end of the class I will encourage each student to share what they have found most interesting or memorable (once again,  it is ok if a student does not want to contribute), and to
