Super Sticker Makers: diseña y crea tus propias pegatinas

In this class, we will learn how to make our own stickers using only a handful of houshold items!

Class structure:

We'll start by picking one of the practice stickers provided and coloring it. Once we've finished, we'll cut out our first sticker and learn how to laminate it and attach the sticky backing and the non-sticky backing to protect it. We'll also talk a little bit about the do's and don't's of DIY sticker-making and why they make a difference. Then, we'll test our finished sticker by peeling off the backing and sticking it to something, like a notebook.

After our first sticker is done, students are welcome to make another easy sticker (the simple circle or square ones) or try one of the harder, shaped ones if they want a challenge. Everyone is welcome to pick any and however many of these they want and decorate them however they like. Students can even make sensory stickers by using glitter (glittery and metallic nail polishes work really well for this) and sequins!

While we work on more stickers, learners are welcome to ask questions and talk about the types of stickers they want to make. This method can be used with small coloring pages (like the ones provided in this lesson), printed images (like TV characters or family photos), or even hand-drawn doodles and names.

If there is time left near the end of class, anyone who wants to is welcome to show off their work to everyone. (If they want to show off their finished stickers, but don't want to be on the big screen, they can step to the side and hold their work in front of the camera or take a picture of their stickers and post it in chat.)

My Teaching Style:

Demonstration and communication are my favorite tools to use in class. This is a very hands-on project, and I feel this class would work well for homeschoolers and unschoolers, as well as any student who just learns better kinesthetically.

I generally try to keep students unmuted, except in the case of noisy backgrounds, and all students are welcome to ask questions at any time. I do ask that they use the "raise hand" button, rather than calling out, but if there are only one or two students in the class, they're welcome to speak up as they wish.

I also have a second camera, which will be pointed at my work surface, to give students a clear view of what I'm doing. So, if they'd like to see it from another angle, by all means, just ask!

Class expectations:

As is Outschool policy, I do not allow bullying or teasing. Everyone is welcome in my classroom and learning and creativity are always something to be encouraged.
I do not ask students to remain on camera for more than the initial class check-in required by Outschool policy, but being able to see their work will help me help them with the trickier parts of this project.
If your learner has any unique needs to be accomodated, please let me know! I'm happy to help and want this class to be as fun and imaginative as possible for every student.

I've been a sticker-holic since I was 5 and recieved my first sticker-making kit for my birthday. Unfortunately, that kit didn't teach me how to make my own, only how to decorate the stickers provided, and once I ran out, that was the end of the game. (Until I got another kit for my next birthday.) But, now, my students can feel free to design to their hearts' content, with no limits.
