You write when you want and submit when it fits your summer schedule. Every week there will be a writing challenge in the Outschool classroom. Each challenge will be different but they will be fun and teach the student something new. Every week a short video and document with instructions will be posted in the classroom. The challenges will be as follows. 1. Write a story from a picture posted in the classroom. 2. Interview an older relative about their childhood and use the interview to write a short story. 3. Challenge will be announced 4. Write a ghost story that takes place in a lighthouse on a stormy winter day. 5. Create a character by using the collage posted in the classroom. 6. Take this character out for an adventure using the words and map posted in the classroom. 7. Challenge will be announced 8. Write a funny story that takes place in a circus. 9. The character from challenge 5 will either get a new job, find a treasure map or step into a new dimension. 10. Challenge will be announced The student should post their writing in the Outschool classroom for feedback from me and other students. Each student may read the other students' work and give feedback. The feedback should include two positives and one thing that other student needs to work on. As an example "I really like the beginning of your story and how it jumps into action right away. I also think you have used a lot of great descriptions but I don't truly understand why the character gave up OR "I find your character really interesting and I love the part when she discovered that she could fly. I would have liked to see some more details about the city she lives in because I couldn't picture it in my mind."
