1-2 horas por semana. Students will be working together to read aloud Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and will need to read each assigned Act the night before in order to remember which parts they are reading and to practice their lines to present to the group. They will need to find costumes/props appropriate to their part. Creativity is encouraged!! They can make or find items to represent their props and costumes. No expense needed, just let them use their imagination. I suggest using document tools to highlight lines on the pages they will be reading. If they prefer to print and highlight that is also acceptable. Please use the translation supplied to avoid confusion.

Experiencia de clase

Students will have the opportunity to read aloud Romeo and Juliet maintaining the original text. Students will be instructed to read their parts ahead of time and plan character choices/props/costumes for each day's scenes. This weeklong camp will ignite your student's creativity and get them to think outside the box in terms of props, costumes, and acting. Utilizing their voice, zoom acting space, and Shakespeare's language they will have the opportunity to perform for their peers without judgement and play with techniques that will help them grow as an actor, reader, speaker, and creative artist.
Day 1: Introduction to Folger's Shakespeare version of Romeo and Juliet, assign roles, discuss plot, coach on prepping, costumes/props, discuss group rules for effective performing and what to do as you prep to read/perform. Students should put in outside time to prep for each day's performance.

Orientación para padres
Romeo and Juliet contains violence, themes of loss, suicide, and romantic love. Please only enroll your student if you are familiar with the content and are comfortable with them reading aloud the original text. I have stated ages 13 to 17 due to the content. The vocabulary is complex and if your child is uncomfortable reading this is not the camp for them.

Licenciatura en Música o Teatro o Artes desde Florida State University
I am a homeschool teacher of 12 years with a BFA in acting from Florida State University. I've been acting since middle school and my first Shakespearean role was in high school as Snout in Midsummer's Night Dream. I've also played multiple characters including Hero in Much Ado About Nothing, and Boyet in Love's Labour's Lost. My favorite role was playing Lady Macbeth back in 2016. Since then, I've been passionate about Shakespeare and bringing him to homeschoolers. I have taught workshops and classes to homeschoolers locally and I have performed in community and professional circles. I currently volunteer with a local Shakespeare for Homeschoolers group as an acting coach/consultant. I frequently judge our local English Speaking Union's Shakespeare Competition.
