Welcome to my math word problems SUMMER CAMP! In this class, we will be learning how to analyze (what is the problem asking for?), break down, and solve word problems with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We will cover whole numbers and fractions within our word problem solving and complete whole group, guided, and independent practice each class to build our math word problem fluency. - Students will learn how to solve a word problem step by step. Students with practice solving word problems with whole numbers and fractions using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, both through whole-group and independent in-class activities.
I am a certified elementary K-6 and special education Pre-K-8 teacher. I have been teaching reading, math, science, and history for over 12 years. For 6 years prior to joining Outschool, I taught reading/language arts and history to 5th and 6th grade students, while also providing 1-on-1 and small tutoring support in all core subjects (reading, math, science, history). Prior to that, I substitute taught and tutored in grades K-12.

Learners should have a pencil and scratch paper for this course. Learners may also want to have a basic calculator (optional). I will provide a "cheat sheet" after class with the steps to solving a word problem and examples as a reminder for learners and to supplement the lesson. Learners are encouraged to keep their "cheat sheet" handy for the next time they might be solving word problems!
