Let’s Bridge the Gap between Kindergarten & First Grade!

In this ongoing course, your child will practice skills that will help them feel confident and be successful in transitioning from Kindergarten to First grade. This course is also suitable for an advanced learner going into kindergarten.
**Before signing up, please refer to the skills & topics being covered in order to determine if your learner is ready, and if the class will be a good fit for them (*skills are listed in detail below). Each week is listed in order by date to help you see what will be taught :) .

**Prerequisite: Your child should have working knowledge of letter names & sounds prior to beginning this course. We will review focus-letters weekly before practicing phonics skills with them. However, this course does *not serve as an introduction to the alphabet & letter sounds. We will be building and blending words, so working knowledge of letters and sounds is needed.

Since this is an ongoing course, you can join at any time! Each week is individual of the others, so you can join this class at any point there is a vacancy.

Skills will not ‘build’ on one another, but they do progress & are described in full so you are aware of what prior knowledge is needed before joining. If your child already has prior knowledge of the skills being taught, this will be a good review and fun time of togetherness with peers of the same age.

Please see the scope and sequence below.

Each day we will have a time for:
-Calendar Math (Month of the Year/Number of the Day)
-Math skill
-Phonics skills that are applied to reading

Disclaimers:
**I follow the refund policy listed on Outschool for 'ongoing classes'. Remember, Ongoing classes are 'subscriptions' and need to be stopped/withdrawn from if you no longer wish to attend, or wish to take a week off without tuition for the week. You can then re-enroll (pending class space) when you are ready :) . You can refer to Outschool's ongoing class policies for more information.

**Per Outschool Safety & Policy, *only the enrolled learner may attend class/be on camera for class.

**Please help your student learn to mute and unmute themselves. I will mute learners during class in order to keep the class environment free of distractions and loud background noise. A sibling playing, TV, family pets, phone call, white noise from a learner's device, or other conversation in the background can seem very loud across the Zoom meeting. I will prompt your student to unmute themselves if they have been muted. You can help them learn how before class, or during their first meeting. I appreciate your understanding and support in helping to keep the classroom environment conducive to learning for all, and for helping us to make the most of our time together :) . **

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I'm thankful to have the opportunity to teach your child! I've been an educator since 2010 when I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Since that time, I've used my teaching certification to teach in public, online, private, and homeschool settings. I'm experienced in all classroom subjects for elementary education. I also have 3 children of my own (ages: 9, 7, and 5).

I'm passionate about helping young students feel excited about learning. I like to teach in an upbeat, inviting way that encourages learners to feel welcomed to participate. I especially like to help young learners to see learning as a fun adventure. I offer a lot of encouragement, praise, and gentle correction in my classroom to instill a love of learning in my students.

Aside from teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children. On the weekends, you can often find us hiking outdoors, riding bikes, or snuggling on the sofa for a family movie night.

I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
