Each day in this two-week summer camp, students will learn French through repetition and voice variation. Repetition for language acquisition is key and will play a large part in this course, both in the form of speaking and singing (don't worry, you don't need to be a professional. It's just for fun!) This is a beginner-level French class. Students are not required to have any prior knowledge of French to attend this class. Each class will begin with quick introductions in English and then transition into French. The class is about 80% French with 20% English to ensure student comprehension. Please note: this class is the exact same as Découvrir le Français (part 3) just in a summer camp form. This is part 3 of my level 1 French class (Découvrir le Français) and it is not a requirement that students complete parts 1 and 2, but it is recommended that students take the other two classes at some point (before or after this class, either is fine) as we will not cover the same material in this class. Each class will use a PowerPoint, and students will be provided with a handout to review after each class. Each handout covers the French and also provides the English translation. Each day will have a different theme. They are as follows: Day 1: Forest animals Day 2: Clothing Day 3: Spring vocab Day 4: Summer vocab Day 5: Fall vocab Day 6: Winter vocab Day 7: Meals, food and drinks (different than part 1 vocab) Day 8: Marine animals Day 9: Chores vocab Day 10: Travel vocab (vacation, hotel, map, etc.) As the days progress, students will gain confidence in their language skills. Students will have the opportunity to speak throughout the class as we go through the PowerPoint. Because students are encouraged to repeat and speak in class, a working microphone is required. In order for all students to hear me in class, I employ a strict muting policy. I will unmute students one at a time so they can work with me, and all students will have many opportunities to speak. Young students may need a parent to help them unmute. I go over the muting policy each class as a reminder to students. Additionally, due to Outschool policy, students must identify themselves on camera at least once at the beginning of class.

I grew up in a bilingual household here in Canada and we spoke both French and English growing up. Learning multiple languages is a great tool for world travelers, and it is a fantastic tool to stimulate your brain. I love speaking French and cannot wait to share my love of this language with you!
