In this three week course, the students will gain valuable skills to become an annotation pro! Why is annotation important? It allows the reader to comprehend sources at a much deeper rate than if they did not use annotation. As a history teacher, annotation is a requirement in my classroom because I do not believe my learners are taking in the information otherwise. 
In my classroom last year, I had my students answer questions after reading a reading and I also had the students re-answer the same questions after reading and annotation and 87% of the classes scores increased after annotation. 
Week One: Get to know me and get to know the learners, discuss the annotation guide, I model the annotation skills
Week Two: we will start with a study game, so that learners can be reminded of the annotation guide. This will lead into a "We do activity", the students and I will work on annotating an article together as a class. 
Week Three: We will begin with a discussion question around annotation. This will lead into a "You do activity", the students will complete an annotation activity on their own! We will end with a exit slip to show what each learner learned!
