In this 15-day online course, learners will become active participants in their own learning by creating an interactive notebook which then becomes a great resource for reviewing and studying the covered concepts. No prior knowledge is required. Page numbers given refer to the required workbook. From the author: "The intent of the Interactive Notebook series is to help students make sense of new information. Textbooks often present more facts and data than students can process at one time. The books in this series introduce each science concept in an easy-to-read and easy-to-understand format that does not overwhelm the learner. The text presents only the most important information, making it easier for students to comprehend. Vocabulary words are printed in boldfaced type...Color helps the brain remember better...The format of the interactive notebook involves both the right-brain and left-brain hemispheres to help students process information." Week 1, Day 1: In this class, we will learn about what physical science is and atomic structure (pp. 5-8). Week 1, Day 2: In this class, we will learn about properties of matter and states of matter (pp. 9-12). Week 1, Day 3: In this class, we will learn about elements, molecules, compounds, and chemical bonds (pp. 13-16). Week 1, Day 4: In this class, we will learn about the periodic table and mixtures (pp. 17-20). Week 1, Day 5: In this class, we will learn about pH (acids and bases) and mass vs. weight (pp. 23-26). Week 2, Day 6: In this class, we will learn about friction and Newton's laws of motion (pp. 25-28). Week 2, Day 7: In this class, we will learn about work and forces in fluids (pp. 31-34). Week 2, Day 8: In this class, we will learn about simple machines and forms of energy (pp. 33-36). Week 2, Day 9: In this class, we will learn about methods of heat transfer and characteristics of waves (pp. 39-42). Week 2, Day 10: In this class, we will learn about kinds of waves and light (pp. 41-44). Week 3, Day 11: In this class, we will learn about light at a surface and sound properties (pp. 45-48). Week 3, Day 12: In this class, we will learn about electricity and static electricity (pp. 49-52). Week 3, Day 13: In this class, we will learn about current electricity and parts of an electric circuit (pp. 55-58). Week 3, Day 14: In this class, we will learn about types of circuits and magnetism (pp. 57-60). Week 3, Day 15: In this class, we will learn about electromagnetism (pp. 61-62). We will also do any needed reviews about any concepts from this course. Each class will begin with a short greeting time and then we will proceed directly to the assigned topic. Learners may need extra time after class to complete their notebooks. I have a relaxed teaching style and there will be opportunities for questions during the class. I can also be reached by email. Learners will benefit most if they read over the assigned material prior to each class time.
Metas de aprendizaje
Learners will improve their understanding of physical science concepts under three categories: matter, forces and motion, and forms of energy.

NOTE: I do NOT receive additional benefits through commissions or the like. I am NOT an affiliate for any website or subscription company package NOR am I an owner of any online store. Each learner will need an empty notebook (spiral bound, composition, or binder with loose leaf paper) with at least 35 blank pages. They will also need scissors, glue stick, colored pencils (markers are not recommended), and 3 tabs (for marking the first lesson of each unit). Each learner will need to purchase their own interactive workbook for use in class. The specific workbook needed can be found at this website: https://www.rainbowresource.com/product/004655/Interactive-Notebook-Physical-Science.html?. You will be using both the front and back of each page. Each learner may either buy two copies of the book OR the learner may hand write the notes from one side of the notebook page to their Input page (right page) and using the other side of the notebook page for their Output page (left page). Each unit consists of two pages. Why colored pencils? From the author: "Color helps the brain remember information better."
