Love Studio Ghibli and Japanese culture? Did you love My Neighbor Totoro? Want to learn more about this amazing film? Then this class is designed for you! In this class, we utilize the beloved film, My Neighbor Totoro as a tool to investigate the lifestyle and culture of the Japanese in the 1950s. This class is designed for the student to be familiar with the film and to discuss certain aspects that is found throughout the movie. In class, we will discuss and view some clips of the Japanese culture and lifestyle found throughout the film. We focus on Japan in the 1950's, Shintoism, shrines, food, clothing, the origin of the creatures, what is based on and some fun facts. Students are expected to have watched My Neighbor Totoro BEFORE attending class. We will not watch the full film in class. This class will be presented via Keynote and is lectured base. This is a LIVE class and is NOT pre-recorded. This is so the students can interact with the teacher and ask questions throughout the lecture. No homework is required. No writing or independent reading is necessary. Students are allowed to take notes if they wish to do so. #creative

✅ Small conversation of driving habits in Japan.

✅ A deep appreciation of this amazing film.
