New to Outschool? Enjoy $20 off this class with promocode: CHRISCH20 (New users only) In this class, we will draw people with diverse fashion styles. Each week, we will draw from a different photo reference as I demonstrate step by step how to create a fashion drawing. Each class we will do two 20-minute poses. This class will have an emphasis on figure drawing, dynamic posing, and realistic clothing folds. There will be lots of different types of poses, races and body types - it will not be a one-size fits all fashion silhouette. Here are the themes we will be covering in the class: ✅ Week 1 Historical Clothing: We will draw clothing from eras such as French aristocracy, American styles from the 1950s, Victorian styles etc... Learn a bit about the history of the era, and why this style of clothing existed during the time, while listening to music during that time period. ✅ Week 2 Aesthetic Styles: We will draw fashion styles such as Bohemian, Cottage Core, Gothic, Emo, Punk, Preppy, Skater, Athletic, Hipster, 90s hip-hop fashion and much more. We will talk about how the fashion style came about and what aesthetic components it entails. ✅ Week 3 Garment Deconstruction and Drawing Technique: Basic drawing skills are important. In this week we will focus on an individual component of clothing. We will do a detail breakdown of things such as hoodies, jackets, skirts, and shoes. Students will learn about to shade and render materials as well. Sometimes we will also go into drawing technique such as how to draw folds, hands and hair. ✅ Week 4 Fantasy Styles: We will draw fashion inspired by video games, movies and literature. These themes are great for those interested in entertainment and fantasy illustration. We will explore genres such as steam punk, medieval fantasy, anime and science fiction. ✅ Week 5 Geographic/ Cultural Styles: We will create drawings inspired by fashion styles from all over the world. We will visit places such as France, Japan, Korea, London, Los Angles, New York etc... We will talk about geography, culture and lifestyle of that location and culture. *This cycle with repeat with different themes. This is an on-going class and I do take student requests and customize the curriculum based on student interest. This is a great class for students interested in fashion, costume or character design. I hope to see you soon!
