Nivel Beginner
In this ongoing group class, I will read two to three new stories each week. As I read the book, I will stop and talk with students about the story, the vocabulary, and their opinions about the book. I will encourage students to speak about the book and their opinions.

New vocabulary words will be discussed so students learning English can strengthen their comprehension and speaking skills!

This class would be good for children ages 5 to 8 years old.

Class Plan:

-Introduction: For the first 5 minutes of class, we will meet each other and chat.

-Storytime: For 20 minutes, the teacher will read two to three books to the students. We will discuss the books as we read. Students are welcome to comment on the pictures and the story as we read. The teacher will ask questions about the story and about the students' opinions as we read.

There will be one to three students in each class.

Students will be invited, but not required to speak. If a student does not wish to speak during class, that is fine! Students can still learn by listening. Parents can message me ahead of time to tell me if their student will not want to speak in class, or students can mute themselves so I know they'd prefer not to speak.

The pages of the books will be seen by the students from my screen. The students will be able to see one another and the teacher as well.

Customized book choices: I ask the students what kinds of books they would like to read, and I choose books based on the students' preferences in a particular class. If each student prefers a different kind of book, I try to find at least one book for each student the class.

If there are subject matters that a parent does not want addressed, please message me before class to let me know.

*Please note: At times, there can be a lot of conversation in this class. This class is best for students who don't mind the book being interrupted when we pause to talk about the story or pictures. Also, a variety of books are read in this class since I try to choose books for each student. Students should like, or at least not mind, a variety of books.

Please message me know if you have any questions about this class! Thank you!

My Teaching Approach:
I want to make the class experience fun for the students because one of the main goals of the class is to encourage students to feel comfortable and confident when speaking and hearing English. I welcome parents to message me with information on their individual students' learning styles and interests, and I will try to adjust the lesson to their needs. I attempt to make the classroom comfortable for all learners. I will let parents know if a student has behavior problems. If a student has trouble paying attention, I will attempt to adjust the class to keep their attention. I will also discuss with the parent if I am not able to keep the students' attention during class.

What learners can expect from class:
-Learners can expect to hear a fun story read by their teacher in English.
-During the story, students will be invited to take part in discussions about the story and about things related to the story. We'll learn new English vocabulary words as we talk!
-After class, I will email parents letting them know what books we read, how the student did in class, and any new topics or ideas that we discussed in class.

Background knowledge needed for this class:
Students should know some English. This class in completely in English.
