Grado de EE. UU. Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Each week, learners will be exposed to an engaging oral reading that attends to punctuation, text features, figurative language, parts of speech and other literary devices the author uses to bring emphasis and exaggeration to a tale. Learners can get comfortable and enjoy the illustrations that will guide understanding of the author’s text. Each class will begin with a brief bio of the author and illustrator and end with an interactive question so learners can share their thoughts about the story or illustration. Sharing is optional! Each class will model strong reading fluency skills and include an aspect of analyzing text. The carefully selected texts will not require knowledge of the previous text. All books are independent of each other. Through the year, a variety of genres will be explored. Titles include books by Helen Lester, Eric Kimmel, Janell Cannon, Susan Lowell and many others. Genres will cover aspects of fiction, humor, adventure, folklore, poetry with adaptations of fairytales and fables.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Miss Rochelle, a passionate, life-long oral storyteller, brings to life any text being read. A love for oral storytelling developed at a young age as she listened to her great-grandfather's tales. Later, she spent his last decade reading to him when his sight failed. Decades later when his daughter, Miss Rochelle’s grandmother’s sight dimmed, she read to her as well. During that time her own mother and whoever was visiting would slip into the room to listen. Whether reading to infants, children, youth or adults of any ability, a captivated audience develops. During daily read-a-louds to her class she would often have an audience of wandering students and lingering staff listening outside the door. Her students included non-verbal, non-readers and visual impairment challenges, with a mix of challenged and fluent readers. Miss Rochelle has been a repeated guest storyteller at bookstores where she read books and guided participants in a hands-on activity that filled the children’s section with captivated audiences.
