Story Explorer Ireland: mitología, historia y cultura irlandesas

In this class, we will study the history and mythology and legends of Ireland and gain all the benefits of travel from the comfort of our own homes. Students in this class will learn facts about history and culture through the lens of popular myths and legends. Your child will learn to apply concepts from the core subjects of social studies, history, and literature. At the end of the lesson, we will develop critical thinking skills by discussing which character, story, or creature each student found most interesting and why, followed by an analysis of what each character or creature tells us about the country, the people who live there, and those who lived there many centuries ago.

We will start with a brief overview of Ireland's history, concentrating on important events that have shaped the people and society. We will then discuss stories that define their culture and traditions. We will focus on the locations of each of these stories and their lasting importance in the cultural identity of Ireland. We close with students sharing and discussing their favorite story or figure from that week.

In March, we learn about Saint Patrick and the history of Saint Patrick's Day!

This is a stand-alone class and no previous knowledge or work is necessary.

Students will receive a printable "Story Explorer" passport and a stamp for Ireland. They can collect more "Story Explorer" passport stamps by signing up for additional "Story Explorer" classes!
