Experiencia de clase

Welcome engineers! Join us each week as we complete a different STEM (STEAM) challenge using various craft supplies and/or materials such as recycled items collected around the house. Some challenges may require specific supplies, and those will be posted in the classroom prior to the start of the live meeting and posted in the class description. Students will learn about and participate in the engineering design process as they complete their challenges. Please keep in mind that depending on the materials and methods chosen, there may not be time to finish the project during the time allotted. All learners of varying abilities and needs are welcome to join.

*If you plan to attend class each week, I suggest you have a large box or garbage bag that you start to fill with items that you collect from the suggested STEM supply list. This way you are prepared with a variety of supplies to use for your projects. You will use these recycled or household items every week for the STEM challenge in addition to any other item that may be listed for the weekly challenge in the description below.

Hi, my name is Mrs. Keenan, and I have been an educator since 2002. I hold NY State certifications for PreK-6th grade and for Students with Disabilities. My Master’s degree focused on inclusion and differentiated instruction. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I also worked as a Staff Specialist for Math, Science, and Technology and as an Instructional Technology and STEM Coach in which I wrote science and STEM curriculum and provided professional development to teachers in the areas of science, STEM, technology integration, coding, and ELA. I love gardening and spending time with my husband and two children, and I can't wait to share my passion for hands-on learning and problem-solving with your child.
