Star Wars: Introducción al combate con sables de luz en la vida real (forma 1/Shii-Cho)

In this course, learners will be taught the very basics of real life Lightsaber Combat through, what is canonically considered in Star Wars the teaching form, Shii-Cho. They will be taught how to take a balanced basic stance, how to come En Garde, take advances, take retreats, basic attacks, and basic defense. The class will be structured by covering each topic as listed above. This will all be taught by me explaining and demonstrating each individual item. 

My teaching style in regards to this is very much learn by doing. Lightsaber Combat as a whole is very difficult, however this first lesson is very simple and most kids ages 8 and up can grasp this first lesson fairly quickly. Learners can interact by asking questions at any time, I will also be doing my best to correct them in real time through zoom so as not to have them create bad habits. 

No prior knowledge or experience needed. We are starting at Step 1.

Metas de aprendizaje

Students wil, by the end of this lesson be able to come En Garde correctly, know how to appropriately take an advance and retreat know the three basic attacks, and three basic blocks.

Due to this being a Lightsaber Combat Introduction Course, the discussion of Jedi / Sith dismembering their opponents may pop up. The specific strike zones may pop up in passing mention such as Cho-Mai, (Arm shot) Cho-Mok, (Hand Shot) Sai-tok (cut in half / waist shot) and Dun-Mok (Talking).

It is very important that learners have a wide open space so as to not damage themselves or any furniture and of course something to use as a lightsaber. Whether it is a LightSaber, a PVC Pipe, or a broom stick, we will be needing it in order to learn the basics of Shii-Cho.

I have also been teaching Saber Martial arts since 2014 and have had many students varying in ages 8-60 succeed in the competitive world of LightSaber Martial Arts. I was Head Instructor of Knights of the New Order from 2014-2017 and then became founder and head Instructor of Penguin Saber Academy 2017-Present.
