Club de concurso de ortografía: compite para ganar

Hello everyone, in this ongoing class we will have fun showing our competitive spirits while learning. This class is for students from 9 to 11 years of age that love to learn and interact with other students. At the beginning of class, students will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and get to know each other. Each student will be encouraged to share an exciting part of their day. Students will be taught a group of vocabulary words in the beginning of each class. Slideshows will be used to teach the spelling and meaning of each word. Students will participate in a variety of fun activities to practice the vocabulary. Once the students have a grasp on the vocabulary, there will be a spelling bee. If time permits we can do multiple rounds.  All students will participate in these spelling bees. The words for each student will be chosen at random from the group of previously learned words as well as high frequency (frequently used) words that all students should already know. The winner of each round will be offered a discount to use for the next class or any of my other classes.

WEEK OF JAN. 4th – JAN. 10th
•	Theme: New Year, New You
•	Activity: New Years Resolutions
-Make your New Years resolutions using the learned vocabulary.

WEEK OF JAN. 11th – JAN. 17th
•	Theme: Occupations
•	Activity: Silly Sentence Making
-Write three silly sentences using your choice of vocabulary words. Choose one to share with the class.

WEEK OF JAN. 18th  – JAN. 24
•	Theme: Medical
•	Activity: Rainbow Words
-Make a rainbow using the vocabulary words. Use the colors of the rainbow. 

WEEK OF JAN. 25 – JAN. 31
•	Theme: Animals
•	Activity: Word Pyramid
-Write the words in a pyramid. Put the longest words on the bottom and the smallest on the top.

WEEK OF FEB. 1 – FEB. 7
•	Theme: Weather
•	Activity: Word Search
-Help solve the word search as a class. Each student will get to participate.

WEEK OF FEB 8 – FEB 14
•	Theme: Valentines Day Fun
•	Activity: Rolling Rainbow
-Make a friend or family member a valentine using the new vocabulary.


WEEK OF JAN. 11th  –  JAN. 17th
•	Theme: Marine Life
•	Activity: Hidden Word Drawings
-Draw a picture related to the weekly theme. Choose 3 words to hide into the picture. See if your teacher and classmates can find the words!
