In this Flex pre-recorded fun speaking reading mindfulness class Dr. Ruth and her students will practice pronunciation, reading, speaking, phonics and saying the words and  sentences. This class is a great follow up to my other Speech Fun Class so make sure to take both classes! You will receive 4 videos total (1 video per week) with large comical Cowboy Joe and I, or my friendly avatar saying your child's name and yours too for a personalized and engaging class time.

What a great deal for a class with typical speech therapy activities but with the added twist of making it fun with my goofy human-like puppets chiming in AND mindfulness positivity activities.

Many people have commented on how their child thought the class was a live class because I will pause and give the student time to practice their speaking and reading skills. Great for students of all ages from attentive 3-year-olds to older children.

In between activities we will practice focusing on the words and sentences. I will be using life-like puppets to engage the child, add humor, and giggles, and make it fun for your child to relate to the subject matter. 

In this class, I will be wearing unique clothing to give ambiance to this unique mindfulness relaxing and fun class and I will speak slowly for increasing comprehension of the sounds in words. Some of the words may be easy but remember it is for practice. You may fast-forward the video if you feel that the activity does not apply to your child. But I do feel it is good to practice regardless if it may be too easy or a bit challenging.

Curriculum / Agenda - For all of the tasks below I will have my feisty human-like puppets answer questions and comment on the various answers to keep it entertaining and humorous.
Classes / Videos are approximately 25 to 45 minutes in length 

*For weeks 1-2, Dr. Ruth will upload a nearpod link in the classroom for children to do and practice at their leisure at home. For weeks 3-4, the teacher will provide useful reading PDFs.

+WEEK 1: We will begin this class by establishing rapport and introducing myself and my puppet assistants (they are human-like and appropriate for all ages). We will start w/ a brief relaxation exercise. I will show a short video clip to help us focus on our reading activities. We will repeat words in the sentences to help our phonics and reading skills. The video can also be paused for practice. I will break the reading practice from time to time by transitioning to fun videos: such as the Bubble Bounce and beautiful music clips. Credit is given below.


+WEEK 2: Sometimes breaking down the written words will help with saying /phonics - sounds in words. Our puppet visitor Teacher Betty will add to the fun. I will give time for your child to respond and you can also pause the video.  I will present a short video clip on the short poem: Who Has Seen The Wind by Christina Rossetti which will be narrated by my puppet assistant "Tina" in her charming voice. I will also show brief video clips such as kaleidoscope music for all and end with a goodbye and how wonderful your child is.

+WEEK 3: We will continue practicing our reading and phonics with various words that Teacher Ruth will say and guide your child to reading better and having a better understanding of "seeing" the words and saying them with the written words shown. I will give time for your child to respond and you can also pause the video. Our fun puppet visitor Cowboy Joe will be in attendance. Cowboy Joe is quite famous in Outschool and I get much feedback on how much fun he is from all my learners regardless of age. He may be a bit feisty but means well. I will also show brief beautiful video clips such as the upbeat Nature Path Walk. We will end this class with the cute monkey friend shown in this video and again how wonderful your child is.

+WEEK 4: Various target phonics words, consonant blends, reading, and public speaking tasks including saying tongue twisters and practicing with a short video. We will also have fun with my feisty puppets Tina, Cowboy Joe, and Betty in this class. We will all practice speaking slowly with sentences shown to target all the words and sentences. The teacher and her friendly puppet assistants will keep it entertaining. As usual, we will watch beautiful video clips and practice our literacy skills. We will end the class with positive affirmations cards shown, such as: 

I am powerful.
I am strong.
I am getting better.
I am kind.
I am confident.
I am happy
I am wonderful (and so are you reading this!)

There will be 3 nearpod activities in this flex class plus helpful PDFs given to you in the 3rd & 4th classes. After the 4th week, I will send a Certificate of Achievement congratulating the students for completing this flex class.

Flex classes are perfect for families with busy schedules and who also want to save a boatload of money. These flex classes may suit children who are not comfortable with online live classes and prefer to work at their own pace.
