Did you know students who begin study of a World Language at an early age will develop a basic foundation of the skills necessary to achieve further success in second language acquisition? Get your student learning Spanish while their brains are young and absorbable.

This course is designed for students who want to learn Spanish. This course will be divided into multiple units to offer flexibility to all families. Each unit will be a continuation of the content covered in the previous unit. It is recommended for all students to follow the order, but it is NOT a requirement. Each unit will cover new content, so you are more than welcome to sign up in the order that best meets your family's needs. Units in this course include, but are not limited to, greetings, family, body parts, calendar, food, animals, and places in the community. The alphabet, numbers, colors, and shapes will be integrated in all units. 
In this course, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate all four components of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in order to be able to communicate in an effective manner. I will be using a presentation, pictures, songs, objects, and role play, to help students internalize and communicate in Spanish. I will also be using Total Physical Response (TPR) to bring the content to life! This will allow an opportunity for all learners to connect movement with meaning to better retain content. Learners are invited to participate with me in the movements. The more ways the learners can engage in the classroom, the more learning will take place.

*This class will meet for 30 minutes, twice a week, for 4-weeks. By the end of the week, students will know:
-Week one: Vocabulary: mom, dad/HFW: she, he, my/Sentence frame: Who is she? She is my  __./Who is he? He is my __. Letter Cc Math: circle
-Week two: Vocabulary: brother, sister/HFW: I, you, yes, no/ Article: a, an, one/Verb: to have = I have, you have/Sentence frame: Do you have a __?Yes/No, I __ have a __ . 
-Week three: Vocabulary: aunt, uncle, cousin, grandmother, grandfather/HFW: boy, girl, the/Letter Dd / Math: Star
-Week four: Vocabulary: family/HFW: and, me/Sentence frame: Who are the members of your family? My __ are in my family.

** A detailed outline of unit 2 will be available in the classroom the week before our first meeting. I will also be posting a pre-class video before each class. I will introduce the vocabulary, both in English and Spanish, with proper pronunciation. Additional handouts/activities, related to the unit, will also be available to continue the learning at home.
