🌟 New to Outschool Students can use Code: DIANAV20 at check out to get $20 off their first class🌟 Welcome to my Spanish class for middle and high school students! My program is designed to provide your student with a solid foundation in the Spanish language and help them achieve fluency. I use a conversational approach to language learning, which means that my students are encouraged to use the language in context from the very beginning of the course. This approach has been proven to be effective in helping students develop their language skills quickly and naturally. In a beginner's conversational Spanish class, the main focus is on helping students acquire the basic skills to communicate in Spanish in everyday situations. The goal is for students to begin speaking Spanish from the very first day of class, using simple words and phrases to express their ideas. I use different techniques to encourage participation and conversation, such as simple question-and-answer sessions, vocabulary games, listening and responding exercises, and role-playing activities. Grammar and vocabulary are presented in a contextualized way, so that students can understand how words and grammatical structures are used in real-life situations. During the class, we practice lots of pronunciation and intonation, so that students can begin to speak with fluency and confidence. Students are also encouraged to ask questions and clarify doubts so that they can better understand the language. Each week there will be a review of the previous vocabulary, an introduction of new vocabulary, and a grammar structure. The activities and games will also cover previous classes to keep practicing. After each class, students will get a PDF with the vocabulary, audio with the pronunciation, and an exercise to help practice the writing in Spanish. Students can complete the work and upload a picture through the classroom or through their messaging system and I will make corrections and offer feedback. If a student can not attend a class, the audio and the PDF with vocabulary will provide all the tools to practice the concepts and the pronunciation taught during each class. ( I can also offer other alternatives when I am contacted in advanced) ••CLASS RECORDING POLICY: I do not share recordings of my group classes in order to protect the privacy of all learners (many parents do not feel comfortable with other families having access to videos that include their child, and students feel embarrassed when they know they can be seen making mistakes). Hello, I am Diana Vivas, I was born in Colombia and I have been helping families for more than 15 years organizing routines that included creative movement, math, reading, and listening comprehension.
During my College years, I worked for a language company in Colombia (CIL), and I was trained by the owner in a conversational teaching method to teach ESL and Spanish to foreigners. It was a great opportunity to learn hands on how to teach others to communicate in other languages, how to teach children both in English and Spanish and how to be a bridge of knowledge in every subject that I was qualified in. It was such a wonderful experience that I kept working for them for more than 10 years, giving me vast training in handling English and Spanish classes. I now use that experience and the fact that I am a native Spanish speaker to share what I know with children and to help them cope with anxiety and stress through mindfulness.
When I looked for a Mindful & movement program to incorporate into my activities, I noticed there weren’t many for younger children, so I decided to get certified in Yoga for children and Zumbini and teach it myself. I work with children using hands-on exploration through social interaction and play, encouraging them with music and using nature to help children learn about their environment. I began to combine structured classes, as well as non conventional classes, and now I can reach all different kind of students, because every child has their own way of understanding information, and I am just a facilitator of that knowledge.
Even though my mayor is in International Business, I have a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business degree, my passion is working with children and learning along the with them.
