Learner progress will be assessed daily during each lesson as the teacher sees and hears that the student has become independent in reciting the information learned during the learning routine. Students will be able to ask and answer questions in the target language. Students will have individual turns to demonstrate progress and understanding. In this class, you will learn important concepts such as the days of the week, months of the year, how to read and write the date, numbers, colors, shapes, counting, number order, letter names and sounds, rhyming and word reading and recognition. You will have daily practice to improve your skills in this new language which includes conversation. During the course, the teacher will be using slides to ensure that students can clearly see the information. The teacher will also be using their hands, facial expressions, voice intonation, and body movements to both engage and help students learn and understand what is being taught. Moreover, we will use chanting, rhyming, singing, and a lot of call and response activities to make learning fun and interactive. Dr. Vania is an experienced, bilingual, compassionate, and creative Spanish teacher with over one decade of teaching experience including higher education instruction, tutoring in Spanish, and virtual language instruction. Dr. Scarborough is a native Spanish speaker with a Postgraduate Degree from the International University of Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, and a DDS from a prestigious university in South America. This, coupled to her ample linguistic experience as a professional Spanish translator, interpreter, and proofreader are the reasons behind Dr. Scarborough’s superb reading, writing and linguistic skills in Spanish. In fact, it is her deep love and knowledge of Spanish grammar, and a genuine vocation of service, which thoroughly inform all her teaching and allow her to provide all her Spanish students with a highly professional and effective Spanish language immersion learning experience.
Lounis K. - Guest Teacher
Teaches: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, English and Arabic
Mr. Lounis is a proud polyglot and teaches 6 languages. Lounis graduated with a degree in Interpreting and Translation. Lounis began his teaching career preparing many students for different tests such as the TOEIC. Lounis intends on teaching the four basic language skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening) as well as language test preparation. Lounis enjoys going for walks, cooking, playing soccer, watching movies, and spending time with his family. He looks forward to meeting all his students!
