Are your kids ready to learn a new language? In the fun, dialogue-based class, students will practice a monthly set of vocabulary and verbs in this interactive Spanish class. Each lesson is designed to maximize fluency and maximize fun! **ONGOING CLASS- IT IS RECOMMENDED TO BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER, HOWEVER STUDENTS CAN JOIN ANY TIME AS LONG AS THEY HAVE A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE PREVIOUS MONTHS' MATERIAL** During the course of this class, students will review, study, and practice via dialogue a full course of Spanish 1 material. New material for the month will be posted in the form of a printable handout- students will use this for study of the material outside of class. Monthly topics will be: September: Introducing yourself and others, Ser October: Rooms in house/locations, neighbor/friend, Estar, Adjectives/describing people November: Numbers 0-100, time, school schedule, Days/Months/Weather December: Conversations that review and reinforce all material covered This class will meet 4x weekly, except for Thanksgiving week, federal holidays, and the last week of December. The successful student will also spend 5-10 minute each day reviewing and memorizing the monthly vocabulary. So join us! HABLAMOS!

Students will learn to introduce and describe themselves and others, rooms in the house and places around town, regular verb conjugations, reflexive verbs, order and describe food, and several irregular verbs.

Hello! My name is Marilena and I live in Washington State, USA. I teach several youth classes- Spanish, as well as elementary English spelling and phonics classes- as well as two middle school vocabulary and spelling classes to improve writing. I have the most amazing kids in each of my classes; the families on this site really are amazing!
Outside of Outschool, I am a special education instructional paraeducator at our local elementary school. I also teach Drama in an after-school program, now via Zoom. Formerly, I taught high school and middle school Spanish. Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, I love walking, kayaking, playing outside with my kids, and curling up with a nice book on a rainy day (which is often in these parts!)
I love working with and being around children; I love watching their face light up when they've mastered something. I design my lessons to be engaging, informative, and enjoyable; integrity of instruction is my #1 goal! I strive to make the most of my time with kids in every setting.
