Experiencia de clase

In this one-time class, we will be learning how to read a map, be introduced to types of maps, understand the elements of a map, and create a map of our very own. Students will learn about maps through a lesson that includes map observations and engaging in-class activities.

This class will be very interactive! I want your learner to be highly engaged and involved in the learning experience. This class will include opportunities for your learner to respond to questions, view realistic maps, identify elements of a map accurately, engage with interactive slides, and view short videoclip(s). The lesson will engage learners of various learning styles because of the use of multiple materials to support each learner.

This class is perfect for beginner and intermediate level map readers. This class will introduce maps and assist each learner in further developing their map reading skills, understanding the purpose of a map, and being able to actively understand the elements of a map.

Welcome:
Hi Outschool Students and Parents! My name is Ms. Pritchett and I am a certified Social Studies educator in the state of Alabama and dance enthusiast.

Educational Background:
I studied History and Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I received my Bachelor's Degree. I am currently completing Master's coursework in Instructional Leadership. I teach Social Studies classes and Social Emotional Learning courses. I have taught students across the globe and love bringing virtual classes to life for each learner.

Dance Background:
I have been professionally trained in dance for over 13 years. Ballet, jazz, modern, and hip hop are the styles of dance where I have received the most training. I have taught dance classes and performed countless times over the years. I found so much joy in dance and want to share that experience with learners here on Outschool.

What You Can Expect (Academic Classes):
Our classes are engaging and filled with opportunities for students to be involved in the learning process. Your learner will have the opportunity to engage in verbal/typed discussions, view visuals to support learning, engage with content vocabulary, read primary and/or secondary sources, analyze texts, communicate with peers, and so much more!

What You Can Expect (Dance Classes):
Our classes will be filled with music you'll love and dance moves that bring you pure joy. These classes will help you to stay active and learn some new dance moves along the way in a safe, learning environment. These dance classes are perfect for beginners and a great way to help build self confidence.

Educational Philosophy:
As an educator, I believe that building positive relationships with my students creates a safe and enjoyable environment for learning to take place. I also believe in the development of the WHOLE child. Academics, mental health, physical health, and social skills are important areas of focus for students of all ages. Your child is valuable and important. For that reason alone, I put great effort and care into each lesson plan and live class. I am looking forward to engaging with you in a fun, learning experience in an upcoming class!

Thank you for the opportunity to work with your learner!
