During this weekly, ongoing class, students will draw and do fun and creative activities in their sketchbooks. This is less of a step-by-step class and more of a class where we try new techniques, experiment in our art, and practice together through guided activities that help motivate and encourage creativity in our sketchbooks.

My goal for this class is to help inspire students to keep a sketchbook. Keeping a sketchbook is a great way to express yourself through your art, see the improvement and progression of your art, and build your skills as an artist, as well as experiment. I also hope to give them motivation and to teach them techniques to improve their artistic skills through regular practice. Practice = progress.

This class is learner directed. Each week, we will talk about possible activites and prompts that we can do in our sketchbook and take turns deciding which activites and/or prompts to do. I will show a slide show of activity and prompt ideas, but sometimes we may use the website pinterest.com to come up with ideas as well. Coming up with ideas for fun sketchbook ideas is half the fun!

During the class, we will socialize while creating. We can talk about the pieces that we're creating. We can talk about artists that we enjoy. We can talk about everyday life or each student's history with art. We will talk about whatever comes natural. 

⚠️ Note: Sometimes students request to draw holiday themed activities like decorating a tree, going trick-or-treating, or celebrating a birthday. If you don't celebrate holidays, feel free to reach out and we'll talk about it. Thanks!

If the student is slow at drawing it's okay! We all create at our own pace, but unfortunately, we only have the time that we have so the student may be encouraged to finish their sketchbook spread after class. 

Knowledge of prior drawing classes will not be necessary since there will be new prompts and activites to create every week. Students can join this class at any point without getting lost. This is a no pressure class. We are just drawing, socializing, and having fun! 

2 cameras will be used during class. 

Students will have the option to share their sketchbooks during class, if they want to.

Students may be muted if there is a lot of background noise or if other students are talking. Please show them how to unmute themselves when they are ready to talk. Thanks!
