What will be taught? Our five senses are our personal toolbox and can help us learn information about our world. What topics will you cover? Learn about the sense of sight: how it gives us the ability to see. Learn about the sense of smell: how we can sense the odor of anything by means of the nose. Learn about the sense of taste: how we can experience and recognize the flavor of something by putting it into your mouth. Learn about the sense of hearing: how we experience sound with our ears. Learn about the sense of touch: how we put one’s hands or fingers on something in order to feel. How is your class structured? Each week the class will feature a welcome, introduction of class members, song and/or read-aloud, activities, and goodbye How will you teach? Google slides will feature the class content What's your teaching style? I will present the material and seek responses from the students to determine their comprehension. How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? Students will be asked to show involvement by including movement with the song of the week. Students will be asked questions about the Google Slides presentation. They will present their answers in the response form that suits their learning modality.

Each week, the student will be presented with one of the five senses. We will address who, what, when, where, why, and how of each of the five senses. For example, “Who can you see? What can you see? Where can you see? When can we see?”

This class is designed for students with varying special needs: limited expressive communication disorders (apraxia), attention deficit disorder, autism spectrum disorder, etc.

As per Outschool policy, only the student should be in the classroom screen. The parent can assist and prompt the student while being offscreen.
