Experiencia de clase

In this class, students will explore the ways in which natural and found objects can be used to make a small shadow box. Students will talk about fun and unique ways to incorporate the objects that they bring to class to make an appealing mini artwork. I will demonstrate through the use of my own art materials how to use the elements and principles of design to organize the artwork and to give an overall sense of visual unity to the finished piece. Students will use their own objects from home to organize their artwork. After each student and I have organized each piece that they want to include in their work of art and determined that the overall design looks complete, then I will show them how to use the gel medium to adhere the pieces to their small box. My teaching style is fun, energetic, and hands-on. Students will interact with me and each other through discussion, sharing their ideas, and arranging the elements that they bring to class throughout the process of making an exciting and creative shadowbox!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! My name is Amy, and I have been a teacher for 20 years. I have a Master's degree in Education and taught art for 14 years. I also teach ESL online. My latest interest is in teaching others how to design, grow, and take care of their own garden. I homeschool my two children and run my own small farm where my family and I work together to grow flowers, vegetables, and fruit.

I believe that children learn best in small group settings where they are allowed to explore the subjects they are interested in while emphasizing and expanding upon their own unique abilities, talents, and gifts.

My passions are being with my family and doing creative things together, gardening, and cooking. I live in an 1800's farmhouse in a small town in western North Carolina. My family and I enjoy raising chickens and harvesting their eggs on our small farm that we call "Pickin' Thyme." We also have two hound dogs named Gimli and Gabby!
