In an order to keep the privacy of Outschool students protected, it is important to note that this class uses third party sites that are approved by Outschool that may need a separate account. Japanese for Kidz courses use the following websites in and outside of class:
YouTube (youtube.com) - Parents should make sure that content restrictions for students is turned on and that students understand that the only content that they should watch for our class are the links that are in the classroom.
KAHOOT - There is no need for a separate KAHOOT account, but students will need a separate device or be able to open another browser to participate in KAHOOTs in class. While this is a fun way to learn, if it takes students a long time to set it up, valuable class time is lost for all students. Students should be able to access this site easily.
QUIZLET (quizlet.com) - To fully get all benefits from QUIZLET, students should have an account that is set up by parents. Students can play games and compete is classroom contests. When an account is created, your student's username will show up on the leaderboard when certain activities are complete. Therefore, it is recommended that students use a name that does not specifically identify them.
JISHO.org - We use this online dictionary tool in all classes. Students should always have access to an online Japanese - English dictionary in a separate window on their device.
(Google Translate also serves as an adequate dictionary for vocabulary and short phrases.)
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Jasmine-sensei has nearly 25 years experience teaching English and Japanese as a second language to students of all ages around the world. In addition, Jasmine-sensei lived over sixteen years in Japan in the Kansai and Kanto area, and spent much of her time while there studying Japanese in formal settings as well as independently. Jasmine-sensei's journey with the Japanese language started when she went to Japan on a homestay at sixteen years of age for a semester in 1992. Japanese is still one of her greatest passions, and she continues to actively study Japanese (independently and with a mentor) with the goal of providing the best instruction and experience for her students.
