Note that this purpose of this listing is for those times when parents of two learners are wanting to combine their resources for one private session with two learners. If you are looking for a 1:1 private tutoring that listing is here: https://outschool.com/classes/private-tutor-11-or-algebra-1-pre-algebra-geometry-algebra-2-pre-calculus-sat-prep-or-tutoring-11-or-25-minutes-or-drop-in-ZDEnxrxI#usjMLMcnyB

If only one learner is registered 24 hours before the start time of the course, the class will be canceled and the enrollment fee refunded.

Do you want your learner to really get this concept by having a teacher walk through it methodically in a lesson? That's the way to really get it. I want your learner to internalize how quadratic equations are solved so they never have to grasp at straws again.

I've been teaching math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points as a result of my tutoring.

My secret to getting these results is making sure that the students truly understand the underlying concepts when practicing their problems.

I want to do the same for your student.

Many of my one-time math courses hone in on one skill with a set goal to know how to tackle problems in that specific area. That could make a big difference in a student's final score!

Learners in this lesson will focus on what College Board calls “Passport to Advanced Math”, and specifically on solving quadratic equations.

Students will first review concepts at the foundation of quadratic equations. For example, making sure they know the quadratic formula and know how to put an equation in the standard quadratic form. They will also review why taking a square root gives two different solutions. They will then review methods of solving quadratic equations. We will then practice the easier questions and, as mastery develops, move to the harder questions. We apply the "I do"/ "We do" / "You Do" to the more difficult questions.

Thanks for having your learner study with me. I can't wait to see him/her in class!
Metas de aprendizaje
At the end of this class, your student will have mastered at least one concept they have struggled with.

Orientación para padres
Necessary prerequisite knowledge: Students should be familiar with quadratic equations as this is not an introductory course. Students are expected to have been familiarized with quadratic equations to have at least solved a few in their normal course work. The purpose of this lesson is to reinforce and sure up any lack of thorough understanding and to build speed at addressing quadratic equations, not to learn the concepts from scratch. Students are expected to have a good working knowledge of linear algebra. If your student needs work on any linear algebra concepts, you can enroll your student in specific classes in the "Boom! I Nailed It!" series on Algebra, or take the four class review of Algebra title "Boom! I Nailed the Fall 2020 Math SAT! Heart of Algebra- Ready in 4 Weeks" which cover all of the Algebra in four quick lessons.

I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.

The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.

It can be done! I used a focused approach. We honed in on trouble areas, really understood the underlying math concept, and drilled for mastery.
