In this ongoing course, we will come together to have fun learning science and doing experiments! In each class, we will begin with a short ice breaker, have a lesson on a scientific concept, and then do an experiment together to create an understanding of the concept. We will then end with a game or quiz to check for understanding. Each week, there will be an informational sheet that can be downloaded or printed for reference and to help recreate the experiment outside of class. Students are not required to always do the experiment themselves if they do not have the correct materials. In this case, students are encouraged to participate by watching the demonstration, asking questions, and being a part of the conversation. IF students will be doing the experiments alongside me, please have materials ready before class starts, and have learners in a place where they can make a mess. Students are encouraged to take the class outside or near the kitchen sink (or wherever they won't break or stain something in case a mess is made!). In addition, it may be helpful to have an adult nearby to assist students as necessary while remaining off camera. Here are the experiments for the upcoming weeks! August 14-20: Lava Lamps August 21-27: Milk Fireworks August 28- Sept 3: Bouncy Balls Sept 4- 10: Borax Crystals Sept 11-17: Ice Cream Sept 18-24: Elephant Toothpaste
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will improve their understanding of some fundamental scientific concepts such as density, pressure, gravity, etc. Students will be able to practice important skills such as listening and closely following step-by-step directions.

None of the materials in this course are dangerous, however some materials can irritate sensitive skin or eyes. Please check the materials list each week and have learners wear gloves, goggle/glasses/sunglasses if you think they might need them.
In addition some experiments may be messier than others. Protect your house and your electronics by having learners do the experiment in a place where they can safely make a mess. Good places include outside, by the kitchen or bathroom sink, or over a tablecloth. In addition, it may be helpful to have an adult nearby to assist students as necessary while remaining off camera. It is possible that clothing could get stained, so be sure to check what your learner is wearing before class!
If there are any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to message me!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello students and parents! I am so excited to share my passion of science with you! I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2018 with a bachelor’s of arts in Geography where I studied weather and climate. I am currently an educator at a hands-on science museum! I have also been teaching students in an online platform for almost two years, and I enjoy having fun while helping you learn! I believe that science should be learned through play and experiments rather than lectures. In my classroom, we are always kind and supportive. In class, my German Shepard, Mia, may make an appearance. And yes, I always want to see your pet!
