In this class, learners will find out who makes up Earth's clean-up crew! Nature creates its own 'garbage' in the form of animal waste, dead plants, and dead animals. All this waste can be recycled back into the earth as nutrients for plants to grow strong and healthy. These plants provide food for some animals who provide food for other animals! This is a great class for beginner scientists because no prior knowledge is required. Learners will see lots of photos and videos and discussion is encouraged. Students can expect to learn: *what decomposition is and how it benefits all of Earth *who scavengers are and what their role is *who decomposers are and what their role is *what carrion is *what detritus and detritivores are *what saprotrophs are If time allows, we will play a fun trivia game to see what students can remember. A simple, printable mini-book from the lesson will be available after enrollment. **If you don't see a time that works for your family please feel free to message me a request for a better option.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will gain an understanding of decomposition; what it is and why it's so vital.
Students will find out that after scavengers begin the decomposition process, detritivores take over, with saprotrophs finishing the process. Students will find out exactly how the animals in these groups do their important jobs.

Hello! Thank you for stopping by! I love students of all ages and I love teaching a variety of topics. Some of my favorite classes to teach are reading, nature, and science. I try to create a positive and encouraging atmosphere so learners feel comfortable in participating. I want students to have fun while learning!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Minnesota State University, a Minnesota teaching license, and a 160 hour TEFL certification.
I have been teaching and guiding children since 2000 as a preschool/childcare provider, an ELA teacher in public school classrooms, and an ESL teacher in online classrooms.
I love teaching, but I also love being a student! I take as many classes as possible on whatever subject piques my interest. Teaching and learning are my life!
When my three daughters are home from college we love going for hikes, cooking together, and of course, snuggling our two funny cats, Pumpkin and Marigold.
I hope to see your learner in class!
