What will my class look like? Each week, we'll embark on a journey to discover a new word family! Students will practice writing each family member in their hand-drawn houses, creating a vibrant Word Family Lane. We'll bring the words to life with catchy songs, followed by various activities to reinforce our learning. As we dive into stories showcasing the word family words, we'll immerse ourselves in the world of language. Our session wraps up with a thrilling game to make the word family unforgettable!

Students should know their letter sounds so they can be ready to read the cvc words.

I have been teaching since the early 90s and have also received my Master's Degree in Children's Literacy.  For the last couple of years, I have been tutoring children in reading and have had great success.  I have found that starting them with the word families is the fastest way to helping them reach the reading goals set for them.  I strongly believe that is the gateway to learning reading.
