- Financial Literacy: Develop a comprehensive understanding of personal finance concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, borrowing, and managing debt. Budgeting Skills: Learn how to create and maintain a budget, including tracking income and expenses, identifying needs versus wants, and making informed financial decisions. Understanding Taxes: Gain knowledge about different types of taxes (e.g., income tax, sales tax) and how they affect personal finances, including how to calculate taxes owed and understand tax deductions and credits. Interest and Loans: Understand the concept of interest and its implications for loans, investments, and savings accounts. Learn to calculate simple and compound interest, as well as understand the terms and conditions of loans. Comparison Shopping: Develop skills in comparing prices, evaluating deals, and making cost-effective purchasing decisions across different products and services. I have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s Degree in Education, focusing on Instructional Technologies. I was a software engineer before I started homeschooling my kids. I have 14+ years of experience teaching in-person classes and 3+ years teaching online. I have focused on STEM classes such as science, coding, math (pre-algebra, algebra 1 & 2, geometry, applied math), and engineering for high school students for the last eight years.
