Quilling is a fun art form that is very relaxing and satisfying. We will use paper and tools we have at home to roll and pinch the paper into beautiful designs. I will show the students a few examples of pumpkin and jack o lantern quilling inspiration. I will demonstrate how to get started and then we will begin to create our unique individual projects. A basic understanding of quilling would be helpful before taking this class. (I offer a basic shapes beginning quilling class) We will focus on the design more than the technique, although I will assist the student with any frustrations they may have. The student may choose to use any paper, any width strip, any rolling tool - this is their project. They will need to prepare fall colored strips such as orange, brown, green, and black to make our design look like a pumpkin. I will also show you a way to turn it into a jack o lantern if you choose to put a face on it. Each pumpkin will be original and unique just like them! This project can be used as a gift, a wall decoration, or the front of a card. The possibilities are endless!

Lista de útiles escolares
You will need to provide: - paper (cardstock or colored computer paper - you will need strips in orange, green, brown, black. The number of strips will depend on your project. I will have at least 15 orange strips and 6 of each of the other colors. Please prepare the strips before class by cutting multiple strips in the same width. You may choose 3mm (which is the typical width of quilling) or you can cut strips as wide as 1/2 inch that are much easier to manipulate for beginning quillers. - a 8.5x11 piece of paper that you will use to glue your coils and scrolls onto. (My pumpkin looks amazing on blue cardstock.) - an object in the shape of a pencil or something thinner (My favorite tool is a skewer, a small rod, a toothpick, a large unbent paperclip) - scissors - ruler - pencil - liquid glue (school glue is fine) - plastic lid - toothpick

I enjoy learning and trying new things. How do you know if you like it, until you try it? I've been teaching young learners for 17 years and now I want to teach you. I've learned that so many skills can be learned indirectly through games and crafts - character qualities such as independence, perseverance, and pride - physical skills such as a steady hand, dexterity, and self-control - and academic skills such as well...you name it! It can be learned through fun. Let's try something new together!
