Grado de EE. UU. 6 - 9
Starting to study for the SAT in middle school can feel *really* early...because it is! But the wonderful thing of starting so early is having the luxury of time. I have so many students who begin studying two months before they need to submit their scores to universities, and while you can absolutely improve your score in two months, leaving it to junior year means more stress and cramming.

In this middle school class, I will introduce students to the SAT and the skills which are tested. But more than that, I also hope to help middle schoolers build skills which will prepare them for high school. For example, instead of having them simply memorize punctuation rules, I'll include optional homework for them to learn how to properly punctuate their sentences.

What you can expect from this class:

Each week, we'll focus on one reading question type or one grammar concept. We'll start with reading. After presenting the question type and walking through the strategies of how to answer it correctly, we'll spend time working on practice questions. Then, it'll be time for grammar. We'll discuss the rules and ways to approach the questions. Finally, we'll spend time dissecting some grammar practice questions.

For the complete schedule, please check the syllabus.

How to decide between this camp and my other camps:

-If your child is in middle school, I recommend this summer camp. The PSAT 8/9 is not tied to any scholarships, nor is it sent to any schools. Instead, it's a way for students to be exposed to the SAT and be familiarized with its content. All practice questions will come from the PSAT 8/9.
-If your child is going into 10th or 11th grade, I recommend my PSAT/NMSQT camp. The content is similar to my SAT class. All of the practice questions will come from the PSAT/NMSQT.
-If your child is going into 11th or 12th grade, I recommend my summer camp for the Digital SAT. The content is slightly more difficult than the PSAT camps and all of the question types come from the SAT.

Extra information: The PSAT 8/9 is administered in the spring or fall of 8th and 9th grade. It isn't tied to any scholarships. Instead, it's a baseline test to measure progress throughout high school.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will feel confident on test day, as they will know how to tackle the Digital PSAT English section. For the reading section, they will have mastered process of elimination and have a good understanding of how the test is trying to trick them. They will be able to identify the question type, actively read the passage looking for the answer, and apply process of elimination to select the correct answer. For the grammar section, they will be able to quickly identify which specific grammar rule the question is testing, call to mind the grammar rule, and answer the question correctly.
