1 hora por semana. At the end of each class, the learners will all vote on a "challenge" to paint for homework. Since this will be learner-driven, the topic of the painting could be just about anything. They will be encouraged to paint this outside of class, using the method we just learned about, and sharing it at the beginning of next week's session.Experiencia de clase

Welcome to Process Art! Where the objective is to prioritize the experience and exploration of creating, rather than focus on the outcome. This type of art encourages creativity, imagination, and freedom to engage in self-guided learning, which in turn builds confidence. There are no right or wrong decisions in process art! Our chosen medium each week will be watercolors. This medium is known as the "rebel" of the painting world, as it's slightly trickier compared to other paints and mediums. Instead of frustration, I am hoping to build your child's confidence through play. This class will not contain step-by-step instructions for paintings, rather I will be teaching a method of watercolor, demonstrating it to the class, and then giving them free time to experiment with said method. At the end of each class, we will all select a group "challenge" to paint as homework that will be shown at the beginning of the next class. I will encourage every student to participate but will respect when a student would prefer to observe and not share their painting. We will discuss, not the outcome of the painting, but the methods used, what the student likes about it, and what they would like to do differently next time. Of course, commendation will be given for all of their hard work! These classes will be fun and very learner-driven! I love having group discussions in my classes where everyone feels comfortable participating! We will hold one class a week, but i will have multiple different days/times for the same class so that everyone can find a session that works for them! if you can not find a current time that works, please reach out to me and I will see if there's anything I can do. The current schedule looks like this, but is subject to change: Week of July 14th: Wet on dry Week of July 21st: Wet on wet Week of July 28th: tipping paper for effect Week of August 4th: Over crayon More weeks to come soon OUTSCHOOL RULES AND STANDARDS: - Siblings or friends are welcome to share a camera, but each individual learner needs to be registered - The camera must be turned on so that I can verify the learner's identity. This is for the safety of everyone in the class, myself included.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will learn how to paint with this difficult medium through play. They will find out what styles they enjoy, which they don't prefer, and how to appreciate the journey of art instead of putting undue pressure on the end product.

Orientación para padres
Please be aware that paint and other art materials may be messy. Please take this under advisement when choosing where the learner is set up. We will be using watercolors, paint brushes, a separate cup of water, tape, crayons, paper towels, and more.
Lista de útiles escolares
1) Watercolor paints! you can find watercolor sets at most stores or online. (Crayola makes a great one!) 2) a cup for water. This is vital as water activates the paints 3) a paint palette. This can be a specific ceramic paint palette or even a plastic tray or plate. The students need to be able to mix their paints on something. 4) Paint brushes. I recommend a thin one to make smaller lines and a larger round one to cover bigger surfaces 5) Watercolor paper. I recommend getting a sketchbook or making one that consists of watercolor paper specifically. Watercolors do not react correctly with any other types of paper. 6) tape 7) salt 8) crayons 9) paper towels

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have almost 10 years of experience working with children and have loved every minute of it! Most of my experience comes from working in Library Services for about 7 years. I hosted the weekly children's story time for Preschoolers and the Summer Children's program. This program consisted of teaching art and crafts to school-aged children for several weeks.
I have also taught other forms of art to little ones, including crochet and even dance.
I am currently teaching my son the importance of process art as well!
