As a current first grade teacher I have seen many young readers feel discouraged when it comes to reading. Teaching in the primary grades has given me insight into the process of reading and the different stages it involves. I love watching as the most disheartened readers can feel confident in themselves as I teach them to utilize skills and to learn to love reading! I use an accredited curriculum (Bookworms Differentiated Instruction) which I have utilized in my own classroom. I have watched students make tremendous growth with this program. 

Classes are ongoing. If you would like me to meet with your student more than one time a week, you are more than welcome to sign up for multiple slots.

About this Class 
One on one tutoring sessions are perfect for students looking for extra support in literacy areas. When registering for a class please let me know what it is you would like me to work on with your students. The first lesson will consist of an initial assessment to help me determine what tools a student may need in order to be successful. Depending on student's ability this session may be shorter than our normal 30 minutes. 

I will be utilizing the Bookworm’s Differentiated Curriculum which targets students who are at various reading stages including: 
✦Basic Alphabet Knowledge
✦Using Letter Sound
✦Using Letter Patterns
✦Blends and Digraphs
✦R Controlled Vowels
✦Vowel Consonant -e
All of these skills build upon one another. 
Along with these skills we will work on sight word identification, writing sentences, and reading decodable stories. 

Materials Needed
I ask that students have something to write with either a dry erase board and marker or paper and pencil.
